About the site
A simple reference for your generation and the dates behind it.
WhatGenerationAmI.org is a reference site for a simple question: which generation does my birth year belong to?
The birthday calculator gives you a quick answer. The generation chart and articles explain the dates, sources, and limits behind that answer.
Dates before stereotypes
Generation names can help us discuss history and compare experiences. They are much less useful as shortcuts for judging a person. We focus on birth years, definitions, and the differences between frameworks.
Sources you can check
Our guides link to original research and institutional definitions. When sources disagree, we explain the choice this site makes. The youngest generation labels are especially provisional. You can read every boundary decision on our methodology page.
Simple by design
There is no quiz to finish and no birthday saved. Use the calculator, find your year in the chart, or read an article when you want more detail.
