Generation Beta
Born 2025 onward · proposed
The newest name on the timeline.
Generation Beta is a proposed label for children born from 2025 onward. We use it here as the next group after Alpha and mark it as emerging. For now, the most interesting story is the world these children are arriving into—and the family stories starting around them.

An emerging generation name
The bigger picture.
McCrindle uses 2025–2039 for Beta in its proposed framework. This calculator adopts the starting year but leaves the endpoint open. The name continues the Greek-letter sequence after Alpha. It is a convenient way to discuss a new birth cohort, with definitions that may evolve.
A birth-year page can already hold plenty of real history. In 2025, a new space telescope launched, a new Nintendo console reached stores, and the United Nations marked eighty years. These are events in the surrounding world, not predictions of the experiences that will eventually define Beta.
What shaped this generation?
A place in the family timeline
A newborn in 2025 shares that calendar year with people turning 60 from the 1965 birth cohort and 80 from 1945. A family photograph can hold several generations at once.
Technology with a history already behind it
The first U.S. iPhone launch was in 2007, eighteen calendar years before Beta’s starting year. The original iPad followed in 2010. Those once-new devices already had long stories.
A family record starts small
Write down the song played on the journey home, the book someone gave, or a message from a relative. A small, dated detail can become a vivid link to a birth year.
A few moments
in the timeline.
A few events around their earliest years.
- 2025
A proposed generation begins
McCrindle’s Beta framework starts with births in 2025. This is the naming convention used by our calculator, with the emerging status kept visible.
- 2025
SPHEREx heads into space
NASA’s space observatory launched from California on March 11. Its mission studies the universe using an infrared survey of the sky.
- 2025
Nintendo Switch 2 arrives
The new console and Mario Kart World launched in the U.S. on June 5. They provide one snapshot of entertainment in the cohort’s first year.
- 2025
The United Nations turns eighty
The United Nations marked its 80th anniversary. An institution founded in 1945 was sharing the calendar with a new generation of births.
The world around them
The grown-ups’ playlist
A birth-year time capsule can include music the family actually listened to. It records the household’s soundtrack without guessing which songs a child will later choose.
A world of games already in progress
Switch 2 arrived alongside Mario Kart World in 2025. For a newborn’s time capsule, that is background culture: a note about what was new that year.
The first page of an album
A photograph with names, a handwritten note, and a favorite family story make an accessible record. Keep the everyday details alongside the big headlines.
There’s more to the story.
Beta follows Alpha
The names continue through the Greek alphabet. Beta is the next label in the framework this site uses.
Fifteen years are proposed
McCrindle’s full 2025–2039 range contains fifteen birth years. Its endpoint is a proposal, so this calculator displays “2025 onward.”
A child gets their own cohort
A child born in 2025 receives the same result here whether a parent is Gen X, Millennial, or Gen Z.
A few good questions.
Is a baby born in 2025 Gen Beta?
That is the result in this calculator, following the proposed 2025 starting year. The emerging label stays visible because the definition is not universal.
Does Beta definitely end in 2039?
No. That year is the endpoint in McCrindle’s proposal. We leave the calculator’s endpoint open rather than presenting a future cutoff as settled.
What comes after Beta?
Some proposed naming schemes continue with Gamma. There is no need to assign a firm future generation here; this calculator focuses on birthdays that have already happened.
Keep exploring.
How we chose the dates and facts
This follows McCrindle’s proposed starting year. The name and boundaries are provisional; 2039 is a proposed endpoint, not a settled fact. The birth-year ranges on this site mainly reflect U.S. and English-language conventions.
